Textiles Teacher

Textiles / Design & Technology Teacher – Full Time – Immediate Start

Applications without QTS and experience teaching in a UK school (evidenced on your CV) will not be considered.

We are currently recruiting for a passionate and skilled Textiles / Design & Technology Teacher to join a supportive secondary school on a full-time maternity cover contract. This position begins ASAP and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a creative and thriving Technology department.

Contract Type: Fixed-term maternity cover
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Subjects: Textiles & DT (Resistant Materials / Product Design experience beneficial)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching Textiles and/or DT at Key Stage 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
• Strong subject knowledge and confidence delivering both theory and practical lessons
• Excellent classroom management and behaviour strategies
• A creative, engaging approach to curriculum delivery
• A commitment to inclusive teaching, student progress, and safeguarding
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging Textiles and DT lessons in line with the national curriculum
• Support students in developing practical skills, creativity, and safe workshop practice
• Monitor and assess progress, providing structured feedback and intervention where needed
• Maintain an organised and safe classroom/workshop environment
• Contribute to departmental planning and wider whole-school initiatives
• Support learners of varying abilities, including those with SEN or EAL needs
