Year 1 Teaching Assistant – Middleton A primary school in Middleton is seeking to appoint a Level 2 or Level 3 qualified teaching assistant to support within their Year 1 class to start ASAP. This role is full-time; Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm.
As the successful Teaching Assistant, you will:
– Have experience of working with pupils of primary school age
– Have good English and Maths skills
– Be comfortable leading small groups of pupils for interventions sessions and effectively managing behaviour
– Display a calm, patient demeanour with the ability to create a stimulating learning environment
– Be a qualified Teaching Assistant at either Level 2 or 3 or the equivalent. Degree-qualified Graduates are also very welcome to apply

What we are looking for
Knowledge and/or experience of working with or supporting children; either in schools or other sectors
A determined attitude to work, desire to help children, knowledge and transferable skills are equally as important, sometimes more so.
You will help to keep children safe by supporting the safeguarding of children and encouraging positive behaviour through agreed behaviour management strategies
You will provide care and encouragement to pupils while supporting the teacher in the delivery and evaluation of learning activities
The ability to remove barriers to learning and provide mentoring support to children.
Who this role would suit
A qualified Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children of either EYFS or KS1 age
An experienced Nursery Assistant with sound Phonics knowledge and who is looking to make the step into working in schools with more sociable working hours
Maths or English Graduates who are seeking a career in education and have experience of previously working with children in any sector.
