Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is pleased to be supporting a thriving and ambitious primary school in the Aston area of Birmingham to appoint an experienced Year 5 Teacher.

The school is known for its high expectations, strong community ethos, and commitment to ensuring every child achieves excellence – academically, socially, and personally. This is a full-time, full-responsibility role, including planning, assessment, and delivering high‑quality teaching that supports the progress of all pupils across Upper Key Stage 2. The school follows a broad, balanced curriculum in line with the National Curriculum and places a strong emphasis on developing pupils’ skills in reading, writing, mathematics, speaking, and wider foundation subjects.

This position will run from September for the full academic year, with the possibility of extension.

The school is not accepting ECT applications. They require a confident, knowledgeable teacher who can deliver consistently strong practice from day one and maintain excellent behaviour standards.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2, specifically Year 5.
  • Have excellent working knowledge of Read Write Inc. (RWI) and be confident delivering high‑quality phonics sessions.
  • Demonstrate exceptional behaviour‑management skills, creating a calm and engaging learning environment.
  • Bring a warm, energetic, child‑centred approach, always striving for the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • Be able to deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that meet curriculum expectations and support children’s academic and emotional development.
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Show dedication, reliability, and a willingness to go the extra mile as part of a supportive school community.
