Teaching Staff for Alternative Provisions (PRU)

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £83.33 – £150 a day

Contract: Part-time, Full-time

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team and make a positive impact on our student’s learning and development.

As a Teaching Assistant in a Pupil Referral Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. Your resilience and physical fitness will be key in effectively managing challenging situations and providing practical support to students as needed.

Requirements to apply:

Physically fit and able to provide hands-on support

A valid DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to obtain one through Monarch Education.

Availability to work full-time (Monday to Friday) during term time only.

Experience working in a school or education-based setting preferred but not essential

Key Responsibilities:

Support and supervise students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in the classroom

Assist in implementing individualised behaviour management plans and interventions

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and outside agencies to ensure the student’s needs are met and progress is monitored

The following skills would be advantageous:

Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and build rapport

Patience and empathy to support students with challenging behaviours and emotional struggles

Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in difficult situations

Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies to help students regulate their emotions and behaviour
