SEND Teaching Assistant

We are looking for a motivated SEND Teaching Assistant to support one of our brilliant Cheltenham based schools. This role would see you providing 1-2-1 support with a child with various SEND requirements. You would need to have a strong understanding of SEND, experiences of manual handling and intimate care. This role would be full-time, Monday to Friday, starting in September and concluding in Jan 2025.

Required experience and qualifications:

  • Will have previous experience as a teaching assistant or within a similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be able to motivate and support children from all backgrounds, as well as support their individual needs.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining a positive and safe learning space.
  • Have both an awareness and experiences with a range of SEND requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborating effectively with the teacher and fellow Teaching Assistants to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Assisting with behaviour management, applying your skills to create a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere.
  • Providing one-on-one support,.
  • Building great relationships with staff and children to maximise their engagement in activities.
