Are you passionate about helping children with SEND thrive?

Do you believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face?

We’re looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 pupil within a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Bristol city centre. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child’s educational journey while working as part of a highly supportive SEND team.

The role is available for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential to secure a long-term contract directly with the school.

Why You’ll Love This School

This vibrant and diverse school is at the heart of its local community and celebrates a rich multicultural environment, with over 27 languages spoken across the school community.

The school’s SEND Base is a nurturing and collaborative environment where staff are genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Pupils are placed at the centre of every decision, with a strong focus on developing confidence, independence, communication skills, and emotional wellbeing.

The school takes a restorative approach to behaviour, combining consistency, kindness, and clear expectations to help pupils feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.

With excellent public transport links and a welcoming staff culture, it’s a fantastic place to build your career in education.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil within the classroom and during wider school activities.
  • Support the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo, SEND team, class teacher, and external professionals.
  • Implement personalised support strategies and interventions.
  • Help develop confidence, resilience, independence, and positive coping mechanisms.
  • Support communication between school and home, including attending meetings with parents where appropriate.
  • Assist with healthcare plans and SEND-related administration.
  • Encourage positive behaviour using restorative and relationship-based approaches.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where the pupil can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who:

  • Have experience working with children with SEND, either in schools or other settings.
  • Are patient, nurturing, and passionate about making a difference.
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can support children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Are committed to inclusion and helping every child reach their full potential.
  • Have a positive, resilient, and proactive attitude.

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, or someone looking to take the next step in their SEND career, we’d love to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant.
  • Access to additional training, including Safeguarding and Prevent Duty.
