Monarch Education are working with a specialist school in Bury (Greater Manchester) seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to start ASAP.

This is a purpose-built SEMH school with modern, state-of-the-art facilities. The school supports pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Attachment Disorder (AD)

They are committed to delivering outstanding education and care for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Role Overview

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll help pupils overcome behavioural challenges and develop key life skills.

You’ll work alongside experienced staff to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Support behaviour using proven strategies and interventions
  • Help create a safe, inclusive classroom environment
  • Work with teachers and external professionals (e.g. therapists, social workers)
  • Track and record pupil progress and behaviour
  • Offer emotional support and mentoring
  • Support classroom activities and pupil engagement
  • Attend training to develop your skills

Requirements

  • A degree or qualification in education, psychology, or youth work (desirable)
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or young people (essential)
  • Team Teach, MAPA, or de-escalation training (desirable)
