Monarch Education is supporting a secondary school in Erdington in their search for a dedicated Pastoral Manager to join their team on a full-time basis.

This is a long-term opportunity with the possibility of a permanent position for the successful candidate. The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with students, provide effective pastoral support, and play a key role in promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.

About the Role

As a Pastoral Manager, you will work closely with students, families and staff to help remove barriers to learning and support pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.

You will be an important presence within the school, helping students navigate challenges, improve engagement and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day pastoral support to students
  • Supporting pupils with attendance, engagement and behaviour
  • Promoting positive attitudes towards learning and school life
  • Working with students who may require additional support
  • Meeting with parents and carers to discuss student progress and wellbeing
  • Managing and recording pastoral concerns accurately
  • Contributing to behaviour intervention strategies
  • Working alongside teaching staff, safeguarding leads and external agencies
  • Helping to create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Upholding safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting young people
  • Experience within a school, mentoring, behaviour support, pastoral, youth work or similar setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence dealing with challenging situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • A proactive and resilient approach
  • Ability to build trust and positive relationships with pupils
  • Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people to succeed
